Origin

Loki Laufeyson first appeared in Venus #6 in August 1949 — a pre-Marvel Atlas Comics title with no continuity to the modern superhero universe. The Loki we recognize debuted in Journey into Mystery #85 in October 1962 alongside Thor, but the Rivaldle database tracks the 1949 first-appearance because that was the original publishing date for the character name.

Comic history

Walt Simonson's 1980s Thor run is the definitive Loki framing. Tom Hiddleston's portrayal in the MCU films and Disney+ series has reshaped the character's cultural form — most contemporary readers picture Hiddleston when they read Loki. The Kieron Gillen Loki: Agent of Asgard run from 2014 is the modern comic version of that anti-hero framing.

Loki in Marvel Rivals

Loki is a 275 HP Strategist whose kit is built around deception. Doppelganger creates duplicates of him that act as decoys. Devious Exchange swaps his position with a teammate. Backstab is a melee burst. The kit is the highest-skill-floor Strategist in the game; players who do not actively use Doppelganger and Devious Exchange play him as an underpowered Strategist, and players who do play him as a tier-defining one.

Abilities

Mystical Missile is the basic ranged. Regeneration Domain is the team heal. Doppelganger is the decoy. Devious Exchange is the swap. Backstab is the burst. Deception is the disguise — he can mimic an enemy hero. God of Mischief, his ultimate, conjures a chaos zone that triggers all his other abilities at once.

Spotting Loki in Rivaldle

Loki's gender cell is the only 'Fluid' entry in the database — a single-field fingerprint. The horned helmet is the silhouette tell, paired with Hela and Thor. The 1949 origin year is unique to him. Any one of those three fields resolves Classic Mode in one guess.

Try the puzzle

Loki is a possible answer in every Rivaldle mode. The fastest way to spot them is usually a combination of two columns in Classic Mode plus a quick read of the silhouette or pixelation. Once you get a feel for the database fingerprints — the unique species cell, the unique origin year, the unique HP value — most heroes can be solved in two or three guesses.
